winter notes
some inspiration for cold & dark days, retreats 2026
hello friends,
i hope you’re well! i had a wonderfully slow start to the new year after a jam packed december full of friends, family, food, christmas lights, and travel. i loved the snow in hamburg- it felt very cozy and special, as we don’t often get a white winter.
while it might feel like there’s a lot of pressure to start the new year running, i personally love to take inspiration from the TCM calendar and think of spring as the time for new big projects and goals. there’s about a month and a half more of year of the snake, winter, so if you’re not quite feeling the new years pressure, then take this as a reminder that you decide your rhythm.
below you’ll find all of my recent favorites, what i’ve been doing, wearing, reading, and eating, as well as some yoga updates for this year:

read: i ordered the book “yoga as embodied resistance” by anjali rao in december and started reading it before the holidays got hectic- i really appreciated the bits i got to, and can’t wait to read more now that work & life has slowed down a bit.
eat: i’ve been really loving tacos for dinner- usually with a homemade pico de gallo, roasted veg, and creme fraiche. they’re so easy to whip up and always taste amazing. corn tortillas are a must though.
do: one of my favorite things i’ve done recently was go to an exhibtion about hugette caland at the deichtorhallen in hamburg- her art is beautiful and she led a vivacious, fascinating life. if you’re here i highly recommend checking it out. generally i would love to visit museums a bit more this year, i always love getting inspiration from new sources.
wear: this skinny scarf from toni & paul- a hamburg brand with such lovely pieces. i’m also a big fan of their scrunchies.
listen: my vinyasa playlist for january has been a big hit at the studio, have a little listen.

in december i launched my little matcha brand - hai cafe. our first import of tea is beyond delicious and i would love for your to try some! we ship europe wide- use the code zuhuus for 15% off your first purchase.
this year i’m also hosting two yoga retreats: a spring edition with antonia kubeneck & a summer edition with paulina wiegand. both will be magical weekends full of vinyasa yin, delicious food, sauna, and workshops- check out my website to book your perfect weekend. there’s early bird pricing until 31.01. on both!
see you soon!
xx,
carli
